The EFQuBL implemented a special course about eGovernment and Security addressing the target group or “Digital Immigrants”. The course focused on the current status of offered opportunities by the government and the possible use by citizens. This first DISK course was completed on February 28th

About the course

[su_pullquote align=”right”]A person who was born before 1980 and thus has to learn how to use digital technologies as an adult on his or her own initiative is known as a digital immigrant. Unlike digital natives, this group did not grow up with the digital world and its technology.[/su_pullquote]

The course aimed to develop missing digital competencies of adults (Adult Education AE) with a special focus on lower digital competencies or people disadvantaged in society due to their lack of digital competencies. The project team identified the danger that these people might be excluded in the future due to their missing competencies.

The course was merged from the two of the modules developed in the frame of the project. The delivery used Blended Learning1, and the approach was based on Flipped Learning 3.02

Course Implementation

The first DISK course has been organized by the KNEIPP Active Club Wiener Neustadt. This is a member of the KNEIPP Austria Umbrella organisation and with approximately 800 members the largest organisation offering various activities. The participants were mixed and from the expected target group of 60+ people, as well as people still in the working process.

The course venue was the modern training center of the Bildungszentrim in Wiener Neustadt, a location with high-quality equipment and a generous amount of space, something that is definitely an advantage in COVID-19 times.
